UK Welcomes Refugees supports Refugee Week 15th-21st June 2026

This week celebrates the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary. As a charity that exists to welcome newcomers, build bridges within communities and help people to thrive, Refugee Week offers a golden opportunity to celebrate the gifts of so many people committed to making our world a better place for everyone!

This year Refugee Week 2026 invites us to explore the theme of Courage. It take courage to leave home, to take perilous journeys, risk abuse and exploitation and step into the world of people on the move through forced migration seeking safety from an uncertain and sometimes violent world.  It takes courage to stand up for the rights and humanity of people fleeing their homes and seeking sanctuary here in the UK. It takes courage to stand up for decency and fairness and to be joyful doing so.

This year we also celebrate 75 years since the Refugee Convention – an agreement affirming people on the move deserve protection, dignity, and hope. For 75 years, it has provided the legal foundation that has saved millions of lives.

UK Welcomes Refugees thanks all its staff, volunteers,  supporters and partners for their courage in supporting the rights and dignity of asylum seeker and refugees especially in these challenging times where courage is needed more than ever.
