Delegation from the UK Welcomes Refugees met with Chris Philp MP, Minister for Home Office on Friday 11th September 2020. The delegation had a very constructive conversation with the Minister and raised a number of important issues including as to when resettlement would resume. The delegation shared stories of welcome through community sponsorship of refugees and briefed the Minister about UK Welcomes Refugees’ plans for a strong, vibrant, and participatory Community Sponsorship movement.
UK Welcomes Refugees is on course to organise a national convention on Community Sponsorship of refugees in February 2021, which is going to be a historic event bringing the wider Community Sponsorship family and global partners. The event will be entirely led by people with lived experience, community sponsors and sponsored families.
UK Welcomes Refugees is grateful to the Minister for the opportunity. We look forward to working with the minister and his team as we build Community Sponsorship together with members, allies, partners, and affiliates.

We seek to build strong participation across the #CommunitySponsorship Movement, to ensure we all thrive in an open & welcoming United Kingdom.
